Riverbank Cottage is in the small village of Appersett 1 mile from the Market Town of Hawes. Its setting is overlooking the River Ure which twists and turns its way down
Wensleydale. A short walk from the cottage is Appersett viaduct where in days gone past the steam trains made their way to Hawes - today you may see children with their instructors abseiling down the
sides. There are a selections of lovely walks in its vicinity across walled meadows in which cows and sheep will be found grazing -
marvellous scenery all round, and yes that chance to slow down for a while.
Just a mile away is the market town of Hawes and here there is a range of shops, both for everyday purchases and the impulse holiday buy, cafes and pubs all serving reasonably priced food and some interesting visitor attractions, the Dales Countryside Museum, Gayle Mill and the famous Wensleydale Creamery.
Riverbank Cottage has been skillfully and recently renovated to a high standard - but has retained some of it character features. It is warm and cosy with the electric central heating and the multi fuel stove in the sitting room. The cottage has been tastefully decorated and furnished.
Entrance to the cottage is through the conservatory (with table and chairs) which overlooks the river and the fells beyond, certainly a lovely room to while away those idle hours with either a coffee or glass of wine. Into a small hallway to the bathroom with bath, walk in shower,
hand basin and toilet, a utility room with a washer dryer and room to hang coats and store boots, down a step into the sitting / dining room, with a feature stone wall, settee, chairs, colour TV, table and chairs and a multi burning stove housed on a stone plinth. Beautifully coloured two tone fitted kitchen with fridge, oven with grill, hob, extractor fan, microwave and a door to the
garden. Upstairs to a toilet and 3 bedrooms - a double room, a room with twin beds and a single room which can also be used as another sitting room with door on to a verandah (table and chairs provided) with the most magnificent views over the river to Hawes and the distant
fells. All bedrooms have drawers and hanging rails. Outside a garden with furniture and again those lovely
views. Parking for two cars (take a torch - no street lights)
